The Rural Research and Development Corporations Eureka Prize for Rural Innovation is awarded for excellence in the scientific research, development or innovative application of agricultural practices that have improved, or have the potential to improve, the productivity and sustainability of Australia’s agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries.
Australia’s rural industries generate a significant proportion of our nation’s wealth, underpin rural and regional communities and produce food and fibre essential for daily life. Global demand for food is increasing, but so is the performance of our global competitors. We also face particular challenges from Australia’s climate, geography and demographics. Leading research, science and innovation in profitable, productive and sustainable agriculture, fisheries and forestry will ensure Australia’s rural industries are well-placed to respond to these challenges.
The Rural Research and Development Corporations Eureka Prize for Rural Innovation seeks to promote and reward outstanding scientific research, development and innovation that has, or has the potential to have, a significantly positive impact on rural industry productivity and sustainability.
