Stories of Australian Science

Stories of Australian Science 2012 - call for stories open now

Welcome to the online showcase of Stories of Australian Science.

Over the past five years, we’ve profiled the breadth and depth of Australian science in our magazines — from astronomy to zoology; climate science to quantum mechanics.

We’ve done over 200 stories so far— you can browse stories by organisation, Australian state or field of science via the menus on the right-hand side of this page. Or browse by past edition below:

  • Stories of Australian Science 2007: In PDF here or individual stories here.
  • Stories of Australian Science 2010: In PDF here or individual stories  here.
  • Stories of Australian Science 2011: In PDF here or individual stories here.

Stories of Australian Science 2012 now open.

If you have a recent Australian peer-reviewed discovery or innovation that might suit our collection, calls for stories are now open for Stories of Australian Science 2012.

We will publish the stories online by 30 June, print the magazines by 31 July, and distribute them to our contacts in Australia and overseas. We’ll also present them to guests at the Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science dinner in October.

A story in this collection is a great opportunity to highlight your research to journalists, policy-makers, science leaders, prospective research students, and collaborators—both in Australia and across the world.

If you’re interested, we’re taking submissions until Friday 1 June. Read more here.

We regularly publish other storybooks. You can read more about them below:
