DELEGATE LIST NOW ONLINE

A list of delegates registered to date is now available online at www.wcsfp.com. Contact information for delegates is available to registered attendees via the WCSFP Online Community. The delegate list will be updated on an on-going basis between now and the start of Congress in December.

SCIENCE AND FACTUAL ONLINE VIDEO LIBRARY

Once again, the WCSFP is delighted to offer the Science and Factual Online Video Library, a valuable resource for use before, during and after Congress. Registered delegates will have the opportunity to upload their programs and trailers, making them available for all delegates to view. Looking to sell your completed programs to new markets? Want to make clips from your works in progress available to potential partners in advance of your meetings at Congress? The library is an excellent service offered to both producers and broadcasters looking to do business in Melbourne. Sponsored by NHK, the Science and Factual Online Video Library is hosted by AthenaWeb and can be accessed via www.athenaweb.org.

REGISTER FOR SPEED DATING THIS FRIDAY

Registration for Speed Dating opens this Friday, October 23. Producers will be able to submit their projects for consideration by CEs, distributors and funders – all of whom will not know who or where the project is coming from until you meet face-to-face at Congress. Speed Dating is a great way to access funders who you might otherwise not have easy access to. Submissions will be accepted from registered delegates only. For more information, including a list of confirmed CEs to date, visit www.wcsfp.com.

DEADLINE APPROACHING: WELLCOME TRUST MENTORING PROGRAM

The Wellcome Trust Mentoring Program for Emerging Talent offers eight promising science professionals a unique opportunity to participate in the Congress, with the additional benefits of mentoring and networking with the top executives and creative minds in the industry. Applications are now being accepted with a final deadline of October 30. For more information and to apply, visit www.wcsfp.com.

SCHEDULING MEETINGS DURING CONGRESS

WCSFP is unique in the ongoing and vocal participation of commissioners, broadcasters and producers in sessions. In response to a specific request from Commissioning Editors, Wednesday, December 2, has been designated as a no meeting day during the session times of 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please be advised that Commissioning Editors are likely to say no to meeting requests during this time. Congress organizers also encourage you to avoid arranging private meetings during session times on Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4, and to utilize the extra meeting time before, between and after sessions.

The World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP) is a member-run, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to celebrating the best in science, history and other factual programming. With a remarkable 2-to-1 producer-to-broadcaster attendance ratio, exceptional networking events and opportunities, and dynamic sessions produced by leading industry insiders, the Congress’ annual event has become a must-attend gathering for producers, broadcasters and distributors working in factual television. Most recently held in Florence, Italy (2008), New York, USA (2007), Manchester, UK (2006), and Tokyo, Japan (2005), the WCSFP will be held, this year, from December 1 – 4 in Melbourne, Australia.
