THE WCSFP FAMILY TREE MEETS THE HUMAN GENOGRAPHIC PROJECT
Congress organizers are thrilled to announce that scientist, author and documentary filmmaker Spencer Wells has been confirmed as a guest speaker at this year’s event. National Geographic’s Explorer-in-Residence, Spencer will share with us the latest extraordinary findings from The Genographic Project.
Hundreds of thousands of participants from around the world – including a number of WCSFP luminaries – have had their cheeks swabbed and their DNA analyzed in the bid to reveal the genetic roots and the migratory history of everyone on earth. LAUNCH EVENTS A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS
Organizers would like to thank Film Victoria and Screen Australia for hosting spectacular launch events in Melbourne and Sydney last week. Attendees were given a sneak preview of the Congress program and the chance to network and discuss various ways to participate. At the Melbourne launch, a panel of scientists pitched their work to many of the Victoria-based producers in the room. The two launch events invoked the spirit of the WCSFP, generating excitement about the Congress’ impending arrival in Australia.
