Bionic Institute turns 30

Back in 1978, history was made when the Australian doctor Professor Graeme Clark completed the first cochlear implant surgery. The pioneer of the bionic ear went on to open the Bionic Ear Institute, now the Bionic Institute, in 1984.

The Institute has just marked its 30th anniversary at its annual public lecture.

RN Drive spoke to the keynote speaker, Simon McKeon - Chairman of the CSIRO, Australian of the Year 2011, and Chairman of the 2012 Strategic Review of Health and Medical Research.
